The Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) is supporting the planting of two hundred trees and shrubs of bauhinia, siris, moringa and sidr in the Hamad Town 1209 Walkway in the Northern Governorate, the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE), announced.
BBK’s contribution came as part of the second phase of the National Afforestation Campaign, Forever Green that aims to expand green spaces, improve landscaping and support national and international efforts to counter climate change and achieve zero neutrality.
Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, NIAD Secretary-General, affirmed that the cooperation between NIAD and BBK came to support government efforts in the environmental and agricultural sectors, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the approach led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister towards achieving a sustainable environmental model that is capable of addressing the increasingly looming environmental and climate challenges.
Shaikha Maram noted that HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s announcement of Bahrain’s commitment to achieving zero carbon neutrality by 2060, necessitates the cooperation all parties.
Shaikha Maram expressed her appreciation for BBK’s support of three projects since the launch of Forever Green.
“We are proud to support the National Campaign for Afforestation, Forever Green, since its launch in October 2021, out of our belief, as main partners, in achieving the goal of zero carbon neutrality in the region by 2060,” Dr. Abdulrahman Saif, CEO of BBK Group, said.
