27th December 2023
The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture and the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE), planted trees at the Ibn Sina Health Centre, as part of the third phase of the national afforestation campaign, ‘Forever Green.’
One hundred and four seedlings of trees and shrubs were planted in the Centre’s courtyard, supported by Bahrain Branch Nursery.
Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of NIAD, and Dr. Ejlal Al Alawi, CEO of Primary Care Centres, were present.
Dr. Al Alawi affirmed the importance of supporting such projects as part of the sustainability strategy, which outlines the Primary Health Care Center’s contribution to environmental projects aimed at developing Bahrain’s agricultural sector and supporting national priorities, as well as global efforts to combat climate change and global warming.
The ‘Forever Green’ campaign aims to support the Kingdom’s plan to increase its green space, to contribute to fulfilling the kingdom’s commitment to its objectives of protecting the environment and mitigating climate change effects, to implement the thirteenth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
The Bahrain Branch Nursery contribution is a reflection of the public and private sectors’ joint efforts to complete environmental projects in Bahrain’s governorates and cities to improve the quality of public spaces and air quality, mitigate climate change effects resulting from climate change and the increase in carbon emissions, and support local and international efforts to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2060.
